pilkingtons arts and crafts tile in mission oak frame 1906 |
Here is a stunning Pilkingtons Tile from 1906. This tile is 12 inches by 6 inches and .5 inches thick and has a wonderful flower decoration. It is possible they were designed by CFA Voysey who was producing tile designs for Pilkingtons at this time. (See the Studio Yearbook of Decorative Arts 1906 page 227 for examples). The tile is in very good condition with some minor edge damage along the left rim of the tile and the usual crazing found in tiles of this vintage. They are marked on the back with a registered design # and the letter "P" denoting Pilkingtons. The Mission Oak Frame is new; it is built from 11/16" thick quarter-sawn white oak and joined together with mortise and tenon construction. This is a beautiful combination of tile and frame. We have a similar tile under Housewares. IHS-036.......$550.00 checkout our interior design book section:
